General FAQ

Does BeyondVR provide phone tech support?
BeyondVR provides phone tech support for issues that can't be resolved, but quick answers to known issues can be found on the support page.

What kind of graphics card or graphics chip should I have to support 3D graphics?
Both nVidia or ATI / AMD make quality GPUs (graphics processing unit) for 3D graphics applications.
Intel graphics chips provide minimal (or no) support for 3D graphics applications.  Because in the past, users requiring 3D graphics historically represented only a small fraction of PC users, Intel did not consider them representative of mainstream consumers by Intel's standards.
Please try the trial versions of our software if you are not sure about your computer's 3D graphics capability.

nVidia chips are specifically-designed for 3D graphics.  nVidia drivers are easy to find and install.  The drivers can be downloaded from a card manufacturer's website, or from the nVidia website (regardless of who manufactured the card).  A mid-level nVidia graphics card is more than adequate to run the CIS and Synesthesure.  nVidia supports special things such as GPU-accelerated physics modeling and AR/VR headsets.

AMD has plenty of mid-range to top-notch cards and chips.  Though many lack native support for some physics modeling features and AR/VR headsets.

Intel  In many cases, drivers for Intel graphics chips will try to use the CPU to emulate 3D functions that are supposed to be handled directly by graphics hardware.  This can have serious adverse effects on performance, as the computer's CPU can easily get overloaded by the graphic chip's driver offloading calculations that are intended to be handled by a dedicated graphics chip - not a CPU.  It can cause major drops in performance, erratic errors, anomalies, and crashes.

Runtime error 13:  Type Mismatch
Data file(s) or data in a data file is missing or corrupted.

Solution 1 - Restart the app/program.
The problem may get automatically corrected, but require the app/program to be restarted.

Solution 2 - If the CIS suite was running fine...
Uninstall the CIS suite and re-install the newest version of it.
Re-activation of the suite's license after re-installing it should not be required.

Solution 3 - Update NeuroGuide (if an error message indicates that is needed).
There is a known error in older versions of NeuroGuide that require an update to a newer version of NeuroGuide to fix a CIS data file corruption issue caused by NeuroGuide.  If a current version of the CIS suite is installed, it should provide an error message about this if that is the issue.

Solution 4 - Uninstall an re-install the CIS suites and CIS setup.
Uninstall the CIS suites and and CIS setup.
Delete the CIS data folder - C:\Users\Public\CIS
Re-install CIS setup and the CIS suites.

Where did the CIS Control Panel go?  I can't access it, but the feedback window is open and waiting and I can see the CIS Suite running on the Windows taskbar.
Sometimes the windows to control the CIS Suites are positioned off of the viewable area, particularly after changing desktop resolutions or monitor layout.  The positions of the CIS windows and panels can be reset to the top left of the primary screen.

Solution:
1)  Left-click on the CIS suite's icon by the clock in the system tray.
2)  Select  Help  |  Reset CIS windows positions
